Session 2 “What are we Trying to Change? Driving Practical Sustainability Solutions
On 29 April 2025, ANZCHAM held Session 2 of its Sustainability Webinar Series Led by GHD’s Cassiophiea Madid and Aldrin Bayangos who shared how the company is embedding sustainability into its operations and projects. Pia discussed internal initiatives like the Green Office Action Team (GOAT) and project selection guidelines that align with Environmental Goals. Following that, Aldrin shared case studies, ranging from ESG due diligence to #decarbonization strategies and science-based target setting. He emphasized the importance of materiality assessments in focusing efforts, and acknowledged the tension between short-term business goals and long-term sustainability.
As the session wrapped up, the speakers left us with a question: Are your sustainability goals integrated into your core strategy, or are they still treated as a side initiative? A timely reminder that sustainability is becoming a business requirement, not a nice-to-have.
