Strengthening Alumni Engagement in Support of Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040 | January 20, 2026

On 20 January, ANZCHAM had the pleasure of meeting with the Australian Embassy in the Philippines and Australia Awards Philippines to explore potential alumni engagement initiatives that support the recommendations of Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040.

The conversation centered on identifying meaningful ways to collaborate in 2026, particularly through initiatives that spotlight Australia Awards alumni as thought leaders, foster stronger people-to-people links, and create platforms that connect business, policy, and talent across the region.

The discussion was joined by Rollie Dela Cruz, Portfolio Manager, and Miguel Roberto Borromeo, Portfolio Manager (Scholarships and Alumni), of the Australian Embassy in the Philippines, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; together with Milalin Javellana, Program Director, and Gel Ferrer, Senior Project Manager, of Australia Awards and Alumni Engagement; and ANZCHAM was represented by Ina Azarcon, Director of Operations; Katie Ynzon, Marketing and Events Lead; and Samantha Sta. Maria, Membership Associate.

ANZCHAM is grateful for the open exchange and shared vision with the Australian Embassy and Australia Awards Philippines. Conversations like these remind us that alumni are more than graduates—they are connectors, leaders, and catalysts for collaboration across borders.
