International Women’s Month: Afternoon Tea | 21 March 2023

Yesterday, our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee organized afternoon tea to celebrate International Women’s Month with the theme #EmbraceEquity. The event was graced by Her Excellency Australian Ambassador HK Yu, Chaye Cabal-Revilla, Executive Director and the Chief Finance, Risk and Sustainability Officer of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, and Grace David, Chief Executive Officer of Edukasyon.ph.

Over 200 people from the business community were in attendance to learn from the experience of these three successful leaders.

The session was truly empowering for the women in the audience. From Her Excellency HK Yu, our participants learned that it is okay to take a stand especially when its needed most – and to look for champions who can support you and be your voice. From Chaye, we learned that one should learn to filter out the noise that can detract you from your bigger purpose. And from Grace, that a woman does not need to give up her femininity to compete in a masculine world. It also came with a challenge to men, to break the gender norms and stereotypes that society dictates.

We were also honoured to have with us their Excellencies New Zealand Ambassador Peter Kell and Delia Albert, the former and first Female Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines and Philippine Ambassador to Australia and non-resident Ambassador to Vanuatu, Nauru and Tuvalu Ambassador.

This ANZCHAM event was produced by its DEI Committee and Secretariat, led by its Executive Sponsor and Board Director, Benjamin Romualdez, and Co-Chairs Lew Anne CruzFredrick Uy, and Lyn Ong.

Thank you to our co-presenters Telstra and AMEX, as well as our event partner GHD for making the event possible.
