Series 2: Artificial Intelligence
Building on the success of our Series 1 on Artificial Intelligence, ANZCHAM hosted Series 2 of the AI discussions at our October Monthly Members’ Meeting. This follow-up session brought together industry experts to further explore the evolving landscape of AI, focusing on critical areas such as implementation challenges, data governance, ethical standards, and the integration of AI within organizations, all while navigating the balance between AI technology and human roles.
This session was led by a panel of industry experts: Kapil Raheja, Vice President at Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS); Michelle Alarcon, President and Board of Trustees at the Analytics and AI Association of the Philippines (AAP); Prashant Haldankar, Managing Director Asia and Group CISO at Sekuro; and Thuy Lam, Founder & CEO, Chief Engineer at Blackbook.ai. Moderating the discussion was Simon Terry, ANZCHAM Director and General Manager at GHD.
As a prelude to the main event, Johann Ang from International SOS discussed their mission to protect lives, serving 60-70% of Fortune 500 companies with 27 global centers. Mark Chan of Ethixbase 360 highlighted their AI risk management platform, improving efficiency by 20%.
Kapil shared AI implementation challenges in the Philippines, emphasizing the talent shortage and need for accuracy. He warned that hallucinations can lead to misrepresentation and highlighted the next stage of AI focused on improving accuracy and addressing infrastructure and security issues. Michelle then addressed that AI is accessible to everyone, not just PhD graduates. She urged organizations to focus on data governance and analytics before hiring AI engineers and stressed the importance of measuring AI-related careers to understand demand.
Our members had the opportunity to partake in the Q&A session, where ethical considerations and practical applications of AI across industries were explored. It was a fitting end to a thought-provoking event, leading into future discussions and opportunities.
